Several organizations across in Canada allocate funds for playground projects through playground grants. Grants are financial aid that does not have to be repaid, making them a great way to boost or jumpstart your playground budget. Accessible grants that support the capital costs of construction and renovation projects aimed at helping kids of all abilities enjoy sport and play.
KaBOOM: Let’s Play Dream Playground Grants
Since 1996, KABOOM! has collaborated with partners to build, open or improve more than 16,700 playgrounds across the country. We build playspaces in partnership with child-serving nonprofits and municipal agencies. Our projects are an incredible opportunity to build new and exciting places for kids and teens to play.
Enabling Accessibility Fund
The Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF) provides funding to eligible capital projects that increase access for people with disabilities to Canadian communities and workplaces, which in turn creates opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in community activities or access employment opportunities.
Community Foundations of Canada
The Healthy Communities Initiative will provide funding to a broad range of organizations, including local governments, charities, Indigenous communities and nonprofits, for projects, programming and services that help communities create safe and vibrant public spaces, improve mobility options and provide innovative digital solutions.
Canada Post Community Foundation
The Community Foundation awards grants to Canadian schools, charities and community organizations that make a difference in the lives of children and youth, up to the age of 21.
Good Life Kids Foundation
For kids and youth with special needs, the path to getting active isn’t always as simple as joining the local sports team or signing up for lessons around the corner. Our Grant Program has been able to help by providing funding to support ongoing physical activity and fitness opportunities through local, provincial and national registered charities across Canada.
Aviva Community
Fund The Aviva Community Fund invests in charitable community initiatives across Canada to strengthen the local community. There are two levels of funding for this grant, less than $50,000 and $50,000-$100,000.

Through the Richardson Foundation, Richardson International and its various divisions support many different community initiatives, such as Splash parks, Playgrounds, Sports fields, Arenas, Community halls, and Volunteer Fire Departments.
Honda Canada Foundation (HCF)

TD Friends of the Environment Foundation Grant
The Foundation supports a wide range of environmental initiatives, with a primary focus on environmental education and green space programs. Eligible projects include schoolyard greening, park revitalization, community gardens, park programming and citizen science initiatives.

FCC AgriSpirit Fund
Do you have a capital project that will enrich lives in your rural community? The FCC AgriSpirit Fund may provide between $5,000 to $25,000 to projects that qualify in a city or town of fewer than 150,000 people, or an Indigenous community.
Co-op Community Spaces
Community Spaces was established to help fund projects in the communities across Western Canada where we live, work, and operate. Eligible projects can apply for capital funding between $25,000 and $150,000 in the areas of recreation, environmental conservation, and urban agriculture.
Manitoba
The Foundation’s main grants program which supports a wide range of community projects (Up to $100,000)
Rural municipalities can now apply for grant funding through the new Manitoba Growth, Renewal, and Opportunities for Municipalities (Manitoba GRO) program. This funding covers up to 50% of eligible costs for capital projects in areas such as public safety, recreational infrastructure, roads and active transportation, and solid waste management.
The Community Incentive Grant Program (C.I.G.P.)
The Community Incentive Grant Program of the City of Winnipeg is designed to encourage non-profit community organizations to undertake improvements or purchase capital assets that are available for public use or will enhance public use of a space or facility.
Co-op Community Spaces has been developed to help protect, beautify and improve spaces across Western Canada. In keeping with our ongoing commitment to invest in the communities we serve, Co-op will contribute $1 million to help support projects that improve the places Canadians meet, play, learn and share. Since 2015, 147 local projects have been supported with $10.5 million dollars in capital funding.
Building Sustainable Communities Program
For capital projects with eligible project cost of over $150,000 (larger capital) a maximum provincial contribution of 50 per cent of eligible project costs incurred to complete the project has been increased to a maximum grant of up to $300,000.

The Community Initiatives Fund is a Special Purpose Fund created by the Government of Saskatchewan through The Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation Act. CIF receives a portion of the net revenues from casinos Regina and Moose Jaw via the Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation and distributes those proceeds to support community-based projects throughout Saskatchewan. Since our establishment in 1995, we have distributed more than $163 million to over 400 communities across the province. More than 10% of the province’s population, primarily children and youth, benefit annually from CIF’s support of these initiatives.

Sask Lotteries Community Grant
The Sask Lotteries Community Grant Program assists non-profit, volunteer-led community organizations developing impactful and innovative sport, culture and recreation programs that meet the needs of the local community. The program is a partnership involving the Government of Saskatchewan, Sask Sport, SaskCulture and the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association. Every year, these community grants help fund diverse programs and activities, such as youth beading programs, taekwondo clubs, music camps, hockey tournaments, Air Cadets, senior fitness classes, curling, swimming clubs and paint nights, to name just a few.

Dakota Dunes Community Development Corporation
The Dakota Dunes Community Development Corporation allocates grant funding in order to enhance independence and well being of residents of the communities we support, allocates these funds with fairness, accountability and transparency and supports economic development, social development, justice initiatives, educational development, recreation facilities operation and development, senior and youth programs, cultural development, community infrastructure development and maintenance, health initiatives, and other charitable purposes.
Community Development Corporations (CDC) Grants
You may apply to a CDC for funding if your organization is located in a community that is near a Saskatchewan casino. Applications are available for First Nations and non-First Nations groups. Recretional facilities operation & development, cultural development, community infrastructure development and maintenance are justsome areas that are considered for funding requests.
Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs (BATC) Community Development Corporation (CDC)
BATC Community Development Corporation will provide grants through support of catchment area projects for the development of healthy communities.
Northern Lights Community Development Corporation
The goals and objectives of the Northern Lights Community Development Corporation are “to facilitate the distribution of a portion of net proceeds derived from the Northern Lights Casino (or any successor thereof) located at the Peter Ballantyne Reserve No. 220, for charitable purposes to First Nations and Non-First Nations charities and organizations in the community in which the Corporation is located and in the surrounding areas.
Painted Hand Community Development Corporation

CN – Railroaders in the Community
At CN, giving back is not a slogan, it is our way of doing business, a way of being, and a spirit of caring that is shared by our railroading family. The CN Railroaders in the Community program recognizes these acts of kindness by providing grants to the not-for-profit organizations’ employees choose to support through their volunteer efforts.
