PROJECT OVERVIEW
The playground at Vickers Park in Thunder Bay, Ontario brings together vibrant colour, thoughtful design, and fully inclusive play experiences for children of all abilities. The space is inclusive, accessible, and designed for every stage of play, with dedicated zones for ages 2–5 and 5–12 that encourage exploration, creativity, and social interaction.
The Smart Play® Sprig® playground gives younger children ages 2-5 developmentally appropriate play opportunities. Low‑level climbers, gentle slides, and sensory elements support early motor skills and imaginative play. Its compact, accessible layout helps toddlers and preschoolers move confidently and safely.
The PlayBooster® playground offers older children ages 5-12 more advanced play experiences. Challenging climbers, taller slides, and dynamic components promote physical development, problem‑solving, and cooperative play. This structure keeps kids engaged through active movement and age‑appropriate adventure.
Several inclusive components help ensure every child can participate fully. The Sway Fun® Glider provides cooperative motion play for children with diverse mobility needs. The We‑Go‑Round® offers an accessible spinning experience that encourages shared play and social connection. Wide accessible pathways and ramps create barrier‑free movement throughout the playground, allowing children using mobility devices to reach elevated areas and sensory features. Built‑in shade adds comfort for caregivers and children, supporting longer and safer play during warm weather.
